Waltham Butternut Squash
This is a 1970 All-America Selections winner from Massachusetts. Probably the most popular and widely grown Open-Pollinated Butternut. The longer it is stored, (2 months +) the sweeter the taste. Average weight on them is between 4-5 lbs.
The flesh is smooth, bright orange with a nutty flavor. Makes incredible soup, pie and anything you would use pumpkin for. A winter squash that gets better with age. Stores well.
