Description
Wisconsin 55 Gold– 15 seeds
This is a yellow/orange mutant of the red Wisconsin 55 discovered by Dr. Robert Raabe, professor emeritus UC Berkeley in a 1953/54 growout of the original red. For 50 years it was privately kept by Dr. Raabe. It is a hardy plant even under harsh conditions. Thick and meaty, suitable for canning and slicing. Seems tolerant to diseae and produces blemish free fruit most averaging 8-12 oz.
I highly recommend this especially to seed collectors. I love the history and wish more people grew it. It has the mild, easy taste of the yellows but solid slices for sandwiches.
