Description

Tarbais Bean– 15 Organically grown seeds

This is the famous white Tarbais bean used to make the classic French dish Cassoulet. A rich, slow cooked casserole originating in the south of France containing typically pork, sausages, goose or duck and sometimes just pork and Tarbais beans.  If you want the authentic cassoulet, you must use the Tarbais bean. Named after the village of Tarbes in the South West of France.

The Tarbais Bean was the first bean to be granted the “Label Rouge” in 1997 and in 2000 it obtained IGP status (Indication of Protected Geographical Origin). A lower starch content makes them very tender.

Enough seed to grow pounds of dried beans for your culinary use. My original seed comes directly from Tarbes, France.

Late Season. Grown as a pole habit.
