Bide’s Recruit– 10+ Organically grown seeds
We believe this to be an old English variety first mentioned in 1922 in the catalog “The Premier Seed Co.” in Brighton Sussex of East England.
Obtained via a seed bank and passed along to us by Neil Gillard, Canada
A very old strong rooted tomato. Along with Manx Marvel, extremely resistant to blight. More than likely an old commercial variety popular in the early part of the century.
Many of these old commercial varieties (Bide’s Recruit, Blaby Special and Manx Marvel) we like to grow and offer seed to keep the varieties from becoming extinct. Most of them are already endangered. We would consider this more of a collector’s tomato.
