Morado corn or sometimes called Kulli, kully sara or chinco sara. An ancient variety originating in the Andes of Peru. Maiz Morado (purple corn). This is a Flint style corn.  Deep purple almost black kernels. Used to make the beverage Chicha Morado very popular in Peru. A simple refreshing drink consumed with pineapple, cinnamon and lemon juice high in anthocyanins, so said to have greater health benefits. The dried cobs can be used to make a dye for natural yarns. This grain is at risk of extinction in the Choquecancha community as well as others throughout the country, as competition from genetically improved corn for commercial purposes is very tough.
