West Virginia Penitentiary – 10+ Organically grown seeds seeds

It took me 3 years to obtain this seed. This tomato is very historical. In the 1940-50’s the prisons had their own gardens that the inmates farmed. Some of the surplus was sold to locals. This tomato came from West Virginia and was  sold to the local people and they most often referred to it as the “prison tomato”. It has a very balanced flavor. Not too sweet and not too acidic. The skin is a tad thicker than modern tomatoes. Very juicy and intense red.  Mild tomato taste. Reminds me of the tomatoes I ate as a kid. A must for a collector and good for any grower!
