Description
Greek Elephant Bean-10 Organic seeds
80% of our seed is sourced from a grower in Kastoria. 20% we grow ourselves. We took this action as we could not keep up with the demand for seed.
Technically these beans can only be called Greek Elephants if they are grown in Kastoria, Greece where they have PGE protection. AKA Gigantes, aka Gigandes, Yigandes, Yiyantes. In Belgium and the Netherlands this bean is called Boerentenen . In Greece they are traditionally prepared in a tomato sauce and baked in a dish called Gigantes Plaki. Extremely hard to find seed for this. These plants grow well in a cool climate also. Plant produces huge pods with white flowers.
*Unfortunately, due to the large size/weight of this seed and customers ordering dozens of packs at a time, we have now limited it to one pack per customer.
