Description

Cornichon Amélioré de Bourbonne– 15+ Organic seeds

The Bourbonne gherkin is an old French variety obtained by a market gardener from Bourbonne-les-Bains, Haute Marne, then improved by Vilmorin-Andrieux in the 1880s.  It  gives us  this completely original and unique variety in gherkins. It is in fact a variety of cucumber with a thin and long fruit covered with many fine thorns more resembling short, stiff hairs. This improved Bourbonne pickle variety produces an abundance of fruit for several weeks which allows them to be harvested just after their formation to preserve them in vinegar, often served as part of hors d’ouevres, on vegetable plates, or with other pickled vegetables. Since they’re typically finger food.

The bigger  fruits of the improved Bourbonne pickle are eaten like a classic cucumber, so you can pick these at either stage.

A running plant that you can let run on the ground or climb on a trellis for easier picking.
