Cherokee Trail of Tears Bean –
A.K.A. Cherokee Black. This heirloom bean was brought by the Cherokee from Tennessee to Oklahoma in their forced relocation by the Federal Government in 1839. Each Native American was given one handful to carry with them. The trail of tears was the infamous winter death march leaving a trail of 4,000 dead in it’s wake.
Each 6″ pod is green with purple mottling. Good eaten as an early snap or seed used dried. The shiny black seeds are used with great pride in many traditional Native American dishes. Mid Season
