Adzuki beans known as Mung beans in the U.S. and Chinese Red Bean. This is a very ancient bean dating back to 1000 B.C. Common in Japanese and Asian cooking, these small red beans are a great source of protein and a powerhouse of other vitamins. They are lower in calories than most other beans due to their high content of soluble fibre.
Adzuki beans are popular in Asian cooking and are often served with rice or turned into a paste and used in desserts. They have a nutty, sweet flavour and can be eaten in a variety of ways including in soups, curries, vege-burgers, dips or sprouted. Very quick cooking time compared to other beans.
